activity breaks

activity weekend breaks & 3-5 day activity holidays

for families,  groups of friends, individuals & young people

Many folks aspire to “have a go” at various adventure sports – before committing themselves to buying expensive gear and equipment, or paying to attend a longer course. These are ideal days to teach you the basic skills to get a feel for your chosen activity in safe, controlled environment. The laughs, chat, craik and fun come free! This is a great way to spend a stress busting week end or short break in wonderful outdoor surroundings at your doorstep. In our hectic lives quality time spent with family, kids & friends becomes very precious. We have become increasingly aware of how important this experience is for us all.

Preview | Our activity weekends & holiday courses are all adventure skills based with the chance to learn how to climb mountains & crags, kayak or canoe rivers & lochs or explore our wonderful coastline with friends, family, as an individual, or as part of a group.

Number of Days | It is up to you – mix and match! Be as active and as adventurous as you like for as many days as you like – or have a day off in between to chill out and relax or do something different. The number of days booked can be any within a 7 day period.

Previous Experience | No previous experience is assumed or required on any of these adventure days – they are aimed primarily at novices and virtual beginners. Our friendly and experienced instructors are there to support and encourage you. Our adventure days will suit all ages, abilities and aspirations.

Maximum Ratios & Minimum Ratios | In order that you can gain maximum benefit from these sessions we limit numbers to 1 instructor 8 clients or 1: 4 for rock climbing and sailing – depending on the activity. We usually run an activity on any day with a minimum of 3 persons – but please ask – other individuals may want to book on the same day.  We are able to take up to around 40 folks at one time, though all will not be doing the same activity at the same time. Normally we operate on a maximum group size of 8 students with at least one lead instructor.

Level of Activity | The prices quoted apply only to Beginner / Improver levels of taster days – where the standard ratios will apply. Where a lower ratio is required on improver, intermediate or advanced skills training, then our more advanced course fees or Private Guiding fees will apply.

Age Limits | Our usual minimum age is 8 years. All 8 – 16 year olds must be accompanied by a parent or adult on a multi day activity break. Juniors are 16 yrs and under. We reserve the right to decline bookings including young children in family groups in inclement weather or who are inadequately clad.

When can we come? Activity Breaks and Weekend Breaks  usually take place from April – September or even into October if the weather is OK  for individuals, families and groups. For ease of organisation there is the daily program above for individuals and couples – this gives the option to join other folks on the activity of your choice.
If you are a larger group or family we are more than happy to arrange a program to fit in with your daily requirements. A family or group booking can be made when we  arrange alternative days to suit your group’s requirements. There is an option to take advantage of our Family or Group Activity Break Tickets.                                                                                             NOTE: We do not normally do half days for rock climbing and hill activities.

Times | Half Day sessions start from Snowgoose Mountain Centre 9.30 am to 12.30 noon or 1.30 pm to 4.30 p.m. A full day lasts from 9.30am – 4.30 pm. We strongly recommend that you meet us at our centre – it saves us from arriving with the wrong sized boots or buoyancy aid. We are usually back at our base by 5.00pm at the latest.
