Preview | The aim of this taster course is to give a safe and structured introduction to rock climbing to absolute beginners and relative novices in a controlled environment. It is hoped that students would have sufficient knowledge and confidence to carry the sport further at their own level, probably within the club situation.
Previous Experience | No previous rock climbing experience is required but this can be an excellent refresher opportunity for those who have just done a little on the rock before. A reasonable level of fitness will enable you to progress more rapidly and enjoyably. This also a great opportunity to progress from indoor climbing walls and bouldering to the world of proper climbing in a mountain situation.
Location | Our rock climbing & abseiling introductory skills sessions are based on the the crags in Glen Nevis which are accessed quickly in our mini-bus. A short walk from the layby near the river brings us to the base of the multi layered crags at Poldubh which is ideal for small groups and families and maximises the time actually spent on the rock.
Meeting Times & Dates| We meet at our base in Corpach, 4 miles from Fort William at 9.30am – 12.30pm or 1.30pm – 4.30pm for a half day session. Full day sessions run from 9.30am – 12 – 4.30pm. We always aim to be back at base by 5pm. Rock climbing & Abseiling Taster Day Sessions are available on weekly dedicated Mondays & Tuesdays. Or at all other times by Prior Arrangement for Groups of 3 or more.
Our introductory rock climbing day sessions are only led by local, friendly, instructors & guides who are qualified to the appropriate level who know the crags well.
