Preview | Snowgoose Mountain Centre provides a wide range of sea kayak taster sessions in coastal & marine environments. These sea kayaking introduction days cater for absolute beginners wanting a leisurely half or full day introduction to the sport of sea kayaking. They are designed to be fun as well as learning the basic elements of sea kayak paddling and safety. Our aim is to enthuse and inspire you to be motivated to sea kayak in the future. These enjoyable, active days will develop different paddling strokes, canoe handling & manouvering. The aim for the day will be for you to be able to control your sea kayak on easy water and set out on a simple, short journey with a qualified paddlesports guide.
Previous Experience | No previous sea kayking experience is required but this can be an excellent skill refresher opportunity for those who have done a little sea kayaking before. A reasonable level of fitness will enable you to progress more rapidly and get the most out of your time with us. (The ability to swim and some water confidence are advisable but not essential).
Location | Our Sea Kayaking basic skills sessions, courses & holidays are initially based on the tidal head waters of Loch Linnhe – literally on our doorstep. With a number of small islands in the loch to visit we take a paddle across the water to Ardgour or paddle down Loch Linnhe – on the wild side– ideal for families and half day sessions. This is a gentle introduction to the effects of paddling on tidal waters. The inland lochs of Loch Lochy and Loch Sheilare also excellent locations for sea kayaks.
Meeting Times & Dates| We meet at our base in Corpach, 4 miles from Fort William at 9.30am – 12.30pm or 1.30pm – 4.30pm for a half day session. Full day sessions run from 9.30am – 12 – 4.30pm. We always aim to be back at base by 5pm.
Kayaking Taster & Beginner Sessions are available on weekly dedicated Tuesdays & Thursdays. Or at all other times by Prior Arrangement for Groups of 3 or more.
